![]() It was basically the same engine sound slightly pitched up or low, along with the supercharger whine. Has damn good graphics and a great engine sound (yes, this is important to me as you'll be hearing it all the time.)įor the more arcadey experience, I cant wait for Toca Race Driver 3. Anyway the rFactor demo is good but there is no AI racers, its just a multiplayer test but you can start your own localhost server and try out the track. ![]() I still couldnt get it to work right and support was useless so I dropped it. That and the fact the game seems to hate gamepads, I just had to fight for it to work with my Xbox 360 gamepad and the menu setup is confusing and such a pain in the ass. It has terrible engine sounds, ugly cockpits (nothing like GTL) and unforgiving physics which I pretty much put me off from playing it anymore. Im probly the only one here, but I dont like LFS. ![]() I would definetly choose this over Live For Speed. rFactor has a lot of potential because it can be modded nicely. I think its made by some ppl affiliated with Simbin because the options are almost exactly like those in GTR/GTL like seat foward aft adjustment etc. It sucks that Simbin uses StarFarce though. The car cockpits and the sound particularly the Corvette are amazing. Anybody had any experience with these?Īnyway, hopefully there are more than two of us (I use "us" loosely, as I've only been into this for the last week or so - View image here: - ) who love this genre and I look forward to any experiences/recommendations.ĮDIT: Looks like I'd better check out Trackmania Nations too (for balls out fun rather than sim so it seems). I'm currently investigating Grand Prix 4, rFactor and Xpand Rally but haven't had a chance to D/L any demos as of yet. This thread is for the appreciation of these titles as well as any recommendations of other titles (I'm looking at YOU Guybo) in this niche genre. ![]() Richard Burns Rally's price is budget of the budget, mainly because it is so difficult for mainstream/casual gamers to get into (because of i) dedication to realism, and ii) requirement of a good wheel) and this difficulty is what makes it so appealing to me. Racing Mini Cooper S's (original model) has never been more fun than in GT Legends. ![]() I've played the Gran Turismo series since its inception, as I have the Colin McRae Rally series and Forza, but nothing has given me the same visceral thrill as flying through Eau Rouge at Spa in a Saleen S7 in 6th with the wheel shaking like crazy in my hands. My new hangouts are Sim Racing World and Black Hole Motorsports to try and read up on all the other great titles and mods out there. I immediately ran out and got GTR: FIA Racing, GT Legends and am trying to get the hang of the Richard Burns Rally demo. This was sparked last week when I picked up a Logitech Driving Force Pro on the cheap and now I'm addicted. Just thought I'd share my rediscovered love for the racing simulation genre on the PC. ![]()
